Shri Arup Roy Choudhury, CMD, National Buildings Construction Corporation Ltd. (NBCC) is also the Chairman, of the Standing Conference of Public Enterprise (SCOPE), an apex body of the State owned Enterprises in India. He is CMD NBCC since 2001 and has served the SCOPE Executive Board since 2003 first as Executive Board Member and later as the Vice-Chairman.

A Civil Engineer by training with a Post Graduation in Management and Systems, he is at present pursuing a doctorate in 'Project Performance Metrics in Indian Construction Industry' from IIT Delhi. Shri Arup Roy Choudhury started his career in 1979 and worked in prominent Public and Private Sector companies. He believes that life is learning process and one has to be positive, transparent and proactive in one's approach to life.

A workaholic by nature Shri Arup Roy Choudhury believes that one has to live and breathe his job in a 24X7 mode. Through out his career, he has been found at his work place for more than 12 hours a day and even after reaching home he has been found making notes or directing people. He thus mentions jokingly that his experience should be counted as 1.5 times the years of service.

He became the youngest Chief Executive of a CPSE when he joined as CMD, NBCC in April 2001 at the age of 44 years. Thereafter, it has been a fairy tale dream run for NBCC. From a sick company with negative net-worth having salary back log, he has transformed it into a Blue Chip CPSU having bestowed upon the Schedule 'A' and Mini-Ratna status by the Govt. of India. That NBCC would be constantly rated 'Excellent' by the Department of Public Enterprise, and become one of the 'Top Ten' Central PSU is an unbelievable feat by any standards.
